“Interested in the transience of nature, I enjoy the thought that my work captures a moment in time when a cut flower is flourishing before it inevitably starts to fade into decay.

Photographing each living specimen, I like to capture the plant’s most characterful angle. The individual personalities of each are combined to form an abstract crescendo of petals, stems and branches.  Unlike nature with its seasonal cycles, these previously living entities are preserved with a lifespan as long as the paper the piece is printed on.

Over the years I have been making these pieces, the combinations have become more full and maximal with little negative space towards the centre. The meticulous layouts are always asymmetric, never a true rotation and are intended to instil a sense of exuberance.”
